Friday finds

I thought I would show you some of my latest finds.

Such a pretty little tin, now all my buttons are in there. I found this in a local charity shop and it restored my faith that there are still some good finds out there that are not at silly prices. This was 50p.

A long sort out addition to my bedroom. Somewhere to store all the out of season clothes. Although at the moment I'm not sure what should be in there!! I found this at a car show and it was a lot cheaper than they are going for on Ebay these days.

Lovely glass bowl just crying out for a trifle in it. a mini tea cup and saucer for Little Miss. Another long sort after item, a toast rack and little butter knife. Oh and some lovely Cath Kidston ribbon. All from charity shops and antique shops in Rye. Oh and I nearly forgot the two lovely pieces of fabric.

I did manage to get some other lovely things there but they are for presents.

Wonderful, historical, beautiful York.

How I love the city of York. The history and atmosphere in this place is just magic to me. Just before it was time to go back to school in September we decided to go away for a weekend break there. Train tickets booked we decided to stay at the youth hostel there.

After we dropped off our bags at the youth hostel we walked along the river and into the city. We had a lovely walk around taking in all the sights and planning our days.

The Railway Museum, we spent all morning wandering around here. It was very strange as we were some of the first into the museum , and in some areas we were the only people around.

We visited the Minster and had afternoon tea at Betty's.

A visit to The Castle Museum. This has to be one of my favourite museums, so much to see and so fascinating.

A final walk around the city walls. Then having a go at making mosaics.

We also managed to fit in two visits to the Jorvik centre as Little Miss thought it was so good.

One of the best things is the museums we visited we can re-visit as many times as we want in the next year.

I think this means we have to plan another visit...not that I will be complaining.

Catch up time

Can someone please let me know where the last month has gone!

End of school meant sports day and for once it wasn't cancelled due to bad weather.

Everyone in your respective house colours and singing the relevant chants "Blues, blues never loose".

End of term presents for teachers and friends.

A little drive out and we find this lovely summer fete. They closed of the street and had all the stalls on either side.

A lovely group of ducks all waiting to be hooked for a prize.

We also found some lovely cider made from local apples.

Also a special birthday parcel sent out to a wonderful friend.

Little Miss Birthday Time

The other day it was 9th birthday for Little Miss.

Up as early as she could be for snuggles in bed with Mummy.

Then it was breakfast in bed.

Time to open presents from Mummy.

Then it was off to see Granny, and more present opening.

We always go out with Little Miss on her birthday and this year she wanted to go to Brighton.

So off we all go. A little ride on the Volk's Railway

A wander on the pier and strawberry milkshake.

Fun on the trampoline and a ride on the merry go round.

A visit to the old penny arcade, and fortunes told.

Time on the beach building pebble castles and eating chips.

Then later on a lovely meal and birthday cake.

A lovely day had by all. Happy Birthday my special little girl.

Street Party

Our town had a lovely street party the other week. The High Street was closed off so no traffic. They had stalls set up selling gorgeous trinkets and food stands. They also had three stages where various local bands and entertainers could get up on and perform.

The day started with a boat race. This was mad with pairs of people running up the road in boats.

After that it was time for Little Miss to practice her circus skills.

Well she started with one hoop, then ended up with three going round and everyone watching and admiring her.

Time for face painting for Little Miss and a small butterfly for me.

Then it was off to check out the hog roast, yummy. Glass of Pimms, chips and popcorn were also consumed.

A quick look around the stalls and a couple of buys.

Then it was time to go home.

What a lovely day.

Weekend Away (Day 3)

Always the worst part of a holiday leaving day.

We decided on the way back to visit a place that I have driven past many times but never stopped to see...Stonehenge.

Wow what a wonderful place.

Just absolutely stunning. The site was so much bigger than I thought it would be.

It was very strange though. Hundreds of people there and everyone was wandering round with these on and listening to the commentary.

But I wonder how many people actually stopped and took in all that was around them. Most people just seemed to be walking round the site in a trance like state.

Eventually we arrive home. We settled down to catch up TV (well we had missed Dr Who). We then had our final Cornwall treat...cream tea.

Weekend Away (Day 2)

Next day we headed into Polperro. What a beautiful little fishing village.

Arrive and the first thing we see is this great water mill.

Polperro is a lovely place and is made so by the fact that access is restricted to vehicles.

A walk down to the beach and some serious beach combing done. Also some great caves to explore.

More wandering and exploring. With stunning views from all directions.

A wonderfully decorated Shell House.

Then a visit to the museum to find out about the local smugglers.

A little secluded spot to sit down and have some lunch. With views out to sea.

Then back to the camp site for party time at the disco.
