"
All good books have one thing in common - they are truer than if they had really happened, and after you've read one of them you will feel that all that happened, happened to you and it belongs to you forever:the happiness and unhappiness, the good and evil, ecstasy and sorrow, the food, wine, beds, people and weather."

Home Sewing Book
I spotted this book in the library the other week. Now it has been one of those books I have had on my "Oh I would love to have that book list" for some time.
Now I try to get books from the library before I buy them, that way I don't make expensive mistakes, and by using the libraries we get to keep them.
It is a lovely book scattered with the gorgeous Liberty prints. But the problem I found with it is that I have patterns for most of what they have done in here. The thing that makes this such a lovely book is the use of the Liberty materials.
So after borrowing it from the library and returning it this will not be moving on to my must buy book list.
Thank you library for saving me money this time.

At the library this week
Every week we go to our local library after I get in from work. We are lucky and they are open until 7pm. If they weren't I don't think we would get there that often.
We have great fun choosing what books we want to read for the following week.
The only problem I find is I want to take too many books home with me.
This weeks selection.
What great reads have you had from your library recently?

This weeks read
This is my latest read and I can't put the book down. Its a great story about a police officer who is investigating a murder, then it gets all Harry Potterish and wizards and magic are involved.
Its so good I've ordered the next book in the series from the library.

Found treasures part two
Here are the rest of the lovely goodies that we managed to find in the charity shops the other week.
A great little DIY book, a mug stand which will be used to hold my bracelets and a couple of gorgeous plates.
Also found a lovely tablecloth and a crocheted blanket. The blanket has some how made its way onto a certain Little Miss reading chair, ready for snuggling with.

What I am reading this week...Girl Reading
Well I seem to be doing well with my reading these days. But the pile beside my bed never seems to get smaller. I think this is because when we go to the library I always walk out with a new book to read.
Well this week I have got "Girl Reading" by Katie Ward. I am about three quarters of the way through this book so far and it is a great read. There are seven individual stories in this book, and all (so far) are about portraits of girls reading. You get a glimpse of their lives and I am finding I want to know more of these lives.
I can't wait to finish this and have found it hard to put down.
So what are you reading this week?

Retro Readers Club
Yes I have signed up for the lovely Retro Readers Club hosted by Pip.
I love this book and read it recently to Little Miss. She enjoyed it as much as I did so I am sure she will not mind me reading it again to her.

July reads
A few more books read and a bit of a mixed bunch this month.
I have seen this book on a few blogs and decided to order it through my local library. What a wonderful book I am adding this to my books I want list. There are so many beautiful projects in this book and I want to do them all.
This was recommended to me for Little Miss to have a read, but I thought I would read it first just to make sure I was happy with it. A great book that is about a family that have split up and how the daughter copes with the situation.
Well I have watched the films and thought it was about time I started reading the books.
I have been reading this book on and off for the last couple of years. I decided that I wanted to finish reading it. This is a good book that has loads of tips and advice in.
I now know which pubs to visit if I want to find a ghost!
I have had this on my to buy list for sometime, but the other day I saw it in the library and thought I would borrow it. I am glad that I did. I tried a couple of recipes out of here and i must say I was very disappointed. This book was promptly returned to the library and removed from by books I want list.
Hope you have all read some good books recently.

The Pleasures of Friendship
Found this lovely little book of Frienship Poems in the charity shop the other day.
So many beautiful poems about friendship, but this had to be my favourite.
The pleasures of friendship are exquisite,
How pleasant to go to a friend on a visit!
I go to my friend, we walk on the grass,
And the hours and moments like minutes pass.

What I've Read This Week
Lovely book with hundreds of ideas for cupcakes in.
This book is about that we should not be worried with the 7 deadly sins. There are sins worse than that in our life.
Best quote in the book was this...how true.

Books I've read this year...so far
Well after what I call my reading drought from last year I am finally getting back into reading.
I felt that last year my mind could not cope with reading. I could not take in the words that were on the page and could not concentrate on a story. I could not even successfully read factual books. I think I must have about 10 books that I started and I got about 5 or 6 pages in then gave up with them. It wasn't that they were hard books to read it was just the place my mind was at the time.
Things have now changed and as from 28th January 2011 I started to read again.
The Tales of Beadle The Bard - J K Rowling
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - Arthur Conan Doyle
Spartan Gold - Clive Cussler
The Historian - Elizabeth Kostova
The Official Highway Code (ongoing read)
Aquarius Your Personal Horoscope (ongoing read)
Help Hope & Happiness - Libby Rees (read this before passing on to Little Miss)
Bullies, Bigmouths & So-called Friends - J Alexander
Doctor Who The Heart of Stone - Trevor Baxendale
Doctor Who Death Riders - Justin Richards
Discovery Compact Guide to Cornwall
The Hairy Bikers Family Cookbook Mums Know Best - Si King & David Myers
Quick & Easy Paint Transformations - Annie Sloan
Country Living Guide To Rural England The West Country
Miss Hope's Chocolate Box
London A Very Peculiar History
Tea With Jane Austen - Kim Wilson
The Best of Britain Cornwall & The Isles of Scilly
Don't think I'm doing to bad so far.

Weekend catchup
At last some Easter presents arrived at their destination. So glad they were liked and got there eventually.
On Saturday I did a great workshop in London (please see the previous post).
Then on Sunday we had the Scouts, Cubs and Beavers St Georges day parade. This had been delayed due to Easter. It was a shame Little Miss did not see it.
We had a fantastic view from our window.
Lovely charity shop find, again in the 10p bin! It may be nearly as old as me and some of it not really politically correct with the comments. But I love it and it gives some great descriptions of places.
When Little Miss came back she wanted to play with her marble run and get out the ice boats we had made previously.

Oh what a wonderful week...
...we have had so far.
School holidays and the juggling of childcare. Little Miss off to friends and Granny while Mummy works. But I have managed to get a couple of days off this holiday and I am so looking forward to them.
Monday walk up to Granny's the sun is out and we notice our shadows as we wander up the road.
Caught Little Miss next to a bit of graffiti. But it is nice graffiti as it is a lovely saying and very apt for her.
Spent a lovely afternoon with Little Miss watching Dr Who DVD's. She has now decided she prefers David Tennant to Matt Smith as the Dr. I don't mind I just enjoy watching any of the episodes (especially if John Barrowman is in them).
Off for a wander around the town, and into the charity shops.
Pretty jug and two Ikea shadow boxes (ideas for presents already with these), and a couple of books one for me and one for Little Miss.
Then a wonderful find in the newsagents!! I could not believe it when I saw these. The last time I had these I must of been about 10 and we were living in Leicester. Had to buy a few packets for me and my sister. Yummmmmmmmmmyyyyyyyy.
Final goodies for the day were these Union Jack/Flag paper chains. Absolute bargain!
Hope you are all enjoying your week.

World Book Night
Well wasn't I a very lucky girl, this is what I was given by a very kind lady in the street on Saturday morning.
World Book Night was on Saturday and one million books were given away and I was a lucky recipient.
So looking forward to reading this book, and it is now next in my towering pile by my bed.
