This month part 3 - Charity finds (oh and car boot finds)

Well we have had plenty of trips out over the last month or so and this means new charity shops to check out.

The absolute bargain was this chest of drawers. This was in a local charity shop that I don't usually do because they are so expensive. Little Miss wanted to go in as she wanted to see if they had a certain book she was after. We went in and she headed to the books while I wandered around. The chest of drawers was in the middle of the shop. It was the perfect height for what I wanted but had no price on it. The manager could see that I was interested in it and said I should buy it if I liked it. I said I would if it was a good price. He said it was £5! Well that money was out of my purse so quick. Then it was getting the chest of drawers back home! I really should think about that before I buy these bargains.

I've been wanting a celery pot for ages and this man was perfect.

All of these lovely plates and dishes have been added to my collection.

I hope that you have all had good finds recently.

This month part 2 - Bedroom

Well the beginning of the summer holiday and this is what a certain persons bedroom looked like.

Well words cannot describe it....

So a day was spent sorting and tidying.

This was the result.

The best thing is that a month later it is still tidy!

Long may it last.

This month part 1 - Baking

As I have been so lax in doing my blog for the last month I need to catch up!

So what have we been doing.

Well plenty of baking.

Yummy scrummy cupcakes.

Banana Loaf.

Eccles cakes.

And messy gooey chocolate fudge muffins.

Oh we had fun making and eating all of these.

Summer Holidays

So I have been very lax with my blog (amongst other things) over the last month. Well I can say the exact date from when. The day Little Miss broke up from school. It happens every year why does my life seem to go to pot when she is not at school. Easy...routine.

We are both out of routine. We talked about this today. When she is at school she knows that certain things happen on certain days. But over the school holidays the drama club, cookery club and brownies etc don't happen. So she cannot pinpoint days. I find the same because of the way I use my two weeks holiday over the summer (by taking odd days off to make long weekends) and even I have to think twice about what day it is.

So I need to sort out a way of dealing with this for next summer holiday.

Today's Quote

Just a quick sneaky blog whilst I'm at work. I don't usually do these in my luchbreak I prefer to sit outside and have a nice read.

But I have just finished another book and I love the quote so much on my bookmark that I just had to share it.

A true friend reaches for your hand and touches your heart.

Hope you are all enjoying your lunch whatever you are doing.

July reads

A few more books read and a bit of a mixed bunch this month.

I have seen this book on a few blogs and decided to order it through my local library. What a wonderful book I am adding this to my books I want list. There are so many beautiful projects in this book and I want to do them all.

This was recommended to me for Little Miss to have a read, but I thought I would read it first just to make sure I was happy with it. A great book that is about a family that have split up and how the daughter copes with the situation.

Well I have watched the films and thought it was about time I started reading the books.

I have been reading this book on and off for the last couple of years. I decided that I wanted to finish reading it. This is a good book that has loads of tips and advice in.

I now know which pubs to visit if I want to find a ghost!

I have had this on my to buy list for sometime, but the other day I saw it in the library and thought I would borrow it. I am glad that I did. I tried a couple of recipes out of here and i must say I was very disappointed. This book was promptly returned to the library and removed from by books I want list.

Hope you have all read some good books recently.

Catch up time

Can someone please let me know where the last month has gone!

End of school meant sports day and for once it wasn't cancelled due to bad weather.

Everyone in your respective house colours and singing the relevant chants "Blues, blues never loose".

End of term presents for teachers and friends.

A little drive out and we find this lovely summer fete. They closed of the street and had all the stalls on either side.

A lovely group of ducks all waiting to be hooked for a prize.

We also found some lovely cider made from local apples.

Also a special birthday parcel sent out to a wonderful friend.

What a sad time for our country at the moment.

Maurice Reeves of Reeves Furniture store in Croydon, Surrey, talks to reporters outside his destroyed showroom (Pic: PA)

A local landmark, Reeves furniture store, one of many buildings burnt to the ground. Many businesses, homes and livelihoods destroyed by mindless people not just in Croydon but all over the country.

Little Miss has asked why people have done this to their own town. Its a very hard question to answer.

Fishy Feet

One of the things that I have wanted to have a go at is the Garra Rufa fish pedicure. So the other day we made our way to our local one.

It is great and very relaxing - its not often that I sit down for 15 minutes doing nothing! What lovely soft feet I got after.

I'm going to book myself in for 30 minutes next month.
